Before beginning an interview, there are many things you must plan and prepare.
Key words: interviewer = the person who asks questions (wants to know information) interviewee = the person who answers questions (gives information) 1. First, you need to have a good understanding of ethics and informed consent. 2. Next, you need to clearly understand your research topic, the rules or guidelines you have to follow and your intended outcome (what you want to happen at the end). 3. Thirdly, you need to choose a suitable interviewee. |
What not to do: This interviewee was lazy, unprofessional and accidentally racist.

10. Conduct your interview
(Don't forget to thank them!) As you go, read the room - watch their behaviour for clues as to whether the interview is going well. 11. Record your notes & impressions. 12. Send your interviewee a final thank you to maintain a professional relationship in case you need to ask more questions in the future. |
Reading the room: The interviewers got her name wrong, implied she was too lazy to read the book, tell her she looks tired, patronise her telling her to drink a Redbull and take a nap then trash talk her after the interview and wonder why she's annoyed with them.
