Why fast during Ramadan?
● To develop compassion for the poor and needy who feel hungry every day. ● To become spiritually clean ● To concentrate on a relationship with God ● To have better self control and self discipline ● To become a better person |
Who does NOT fast during Ramadan?
● Children ● People who are sick, have long term illnesses or mental illness, or are not sane ● Pregnant or breastfeeding women ● Women on their period ● The elderly are supposed to fast, but if they cannot, they can instead choose to feed a poor person every day of Ramadan they cannot fast |
Do:
● Be patient and respectful during Ramadan ● Donate to charity if you can ● Plan meals carefully as restaurants may be closed for lunch ● Join halal bilhalal gatherings |
Don'ts:
● Ask to stop the call to prayer (offensive) ● Don't make others angry during Ramadan ● Don't refuse snacks during Lembaran ● Don't catch public transport out of Jakarta during or right before Lebaran or back to Jakarta after Lebaran! |
